OpenAI has officially unveiled ChatGPT Health, a groundbreaking service aimed at integrating personal health data with AI-driven insights. Announced on Wednesday, this new offering is designed to provide users with a secure platform that combines their health information with the advanced capabilities of ChatGPT. The initiative, which has been in development since at least November, emerged from OpenAI's recognition of the growing demand for health-related inquiries. The company reported that over 230 million individuals globally seek health and wellness advice from ChatGPT every week. With the new feature, users can seamlessly link their medical records and wellness applications, including popular platforms like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and Function. This functionality will assist users in interpreting lab results, preparing for medical appointments, monitoring health trends, and comparing insurance options. It is important to note that ChatGPT Health is not intended to replace medical professionals or provide diagnoses. OpenAI has emphasized that the service should not be considered a substitute for professional healthcare, adhering to updated policies that restrict the provision of specialized legal or medical advice without the involvement of licensed practitioners. The platform was developed with the collaboration of over 260 physicians from 60 different countries across various fields of expertise. ChatGPT Health will function as a dedicated area within the ChatGPT application, ensuring that discussions, files, and linked applications are kept private and encrypted. Conversations within this space will not contribute to the training of ChatGPT's core models, prioritizing user confidentiality. Currently, access to ChatGPT Health is being rolled out to a select group of users on both free and paid plans outside of Europe and the UK, with plans for broader availability in the coming weeks. Users will have the ability to manage their health memories, including options to view, delete, or disconnect applications as needed.
