OpenAI has announced an exciting expansion of its cost-effective subscription service, ChatGPT Go, which is now accessible in an additional 16 countries across Asia. This move was revealed by the company's CEO, Nick Turley, who emphasized that enhancing affordability for users has been a significant demand. Initially introduced in India and Indonesia earlier this year, the latest rollout extends OpenAI's budget-friendly offering to a total of 18 countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste (East Timor), and Vietnam. This initiative aims to boost accessibility to OpenAI's latest model, GPT-5. ChatGPT Go provides users with all the functionalities available in the free version but adds features such as image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis, alongside higher usage limits for core chat and tools. Launched at a monthly subscription fee of 399 rupees (approximately $4.50) in India and 75,000 rupiah (around $4.53) in Indonesia, this plan is significantly cheaper than OpenAI's other offerings. While the pricing may vary across different Asian markets, OpenAI continues to offer two other paid subscriptions: ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month and ChatGPT Pro at $200 per month, along with a business plan priced at $25 monthly. The adoption of ChatGPT has surged globally since its debut in late 2022, with the growth rate in lower-income countries reportedly surpassing four times that of higher-income nations by May 2025. OpenAI has indicated that the rollout of ChatGPT Go is ongoing, with users in Cambodia, Laos, and Nepal already able to access it via web and Android. However, the iOS app version is not yet available in these regions.
