OpenAI hires team behind AI recommendation startup Crossing Minds

In an exciting development for the AI landscape, Crossing Minds, a startup recognized for its innovative AI recommendation systems tailored for e-commerce, has announced that its team is joining OpenAI. The company, which has garnered support from notable investors including Index Ventures, Shopify, Plug and Play, and Radical Ventures, successfully raised over $13.5 million in various funding rounds, as reported by Crunchbase. Crossing Minds specialized in enhancing personalization and recommendation strategies for online retailers by analyzing customer behavior data while prioritizing user privacy. In a heartfelt message shared on their website, the co-founders expressed their enthusiasm about joining OpenAI, stating, "Aligning with OpenAI enables us to channel our efforts and values into a mission we hold in high regard: ensuring that artificial general intelligence serves the benefit of all humanity. We are eager to contribute our expertise to a team that is pioneering the future of AI." One of the co-founders, Alexandre Robicquet, has already made updates to his LinkedIn profile, reflecting his new role in research and agent development at OpenAI. It remains uncertain whether the entire Crossing Minds team will transition to OpenAI, as the startup’s website indicates it will no longer be accepting new clients. Previously, Crossing Minds was trusted by various prominent organizations such as Intuit, Anthropic, Udacity, and Chanel. The realm of AI-driven shopping continues to grow, with major tech companies like Google and Perplexity rolling out advanced recommendation features. Meanwhile, startups like Daydream are attracting significant investment to develop AI shopping assistants. Earlier in the year, OpenAI enhanced ChatGPT by adding functionalities that provide users with product recommendations, images, and reviews based on their inquiries. As of now, OpenAI has not responded to requests for additional comments.
