In a significant move for its infrastructure, OpenAI has unveiled plans to establish five new AI data centers across the United States, collaborating with technology giants Oracle and SoftBank as part of its ambitious Stargate initiative. This expansion will elevate the Stargate project's total capacity to an impressive seven gigawatts, which is sufficient to power over five million households. Three of the upcoming facilities will be developed in partnership with Oracle, strategically located in Shackelford County, Texas; Doña Ana County, New Mexico; and a yet-to-be-disclosed site in the Midwest. The remaining two data centers will be constructed with SoftBank, one situated in Lordstown, Ohio, and the other in Milam County, Texas. This endeavor reflects OpenAI’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure to support the training and deployment of more advanced AI models. Additionally, OpenAI recently announced a substantial investment of $100 billion from Nvidia, aimed at acquiring cutting-edge AI processors and further expanding its data center capabilities. This investment underscores the growing demand for AI technologies and OpenAI's pivotal role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
