OpenAI takes Codex to Amazon cloud, what’s next for Microsoft partnership?

Microsoft will continue to serve as OpenAI's primary cloud partner, but it is now permitted to offer OpenAI's products on other cloud platforms, such as AWS and Google Cloud. This updated agreement allows Microsoft to maintain access to OpenAI's technology until 2032, albeit now on a non-exclusive basis. Furthermore, Microsoft will cease its practice of sharing a portion of its revenue with OpenAI, while OpenAI will continue to pay Microsoft a revenue share until 2030, with a cap on the total amount. Finally, Microsoft will maintain its role as an investor and shareholder in OpenAI, and both companies are set to keep collaborating on AI initiatives, including the construction of data centers, the development of AI chips, and enhancements to cybersecurity tools.
