OpenAI updates Sora 2: Pro users get Storyboards, video limits increased

OpenAI has announced exciting updates to its creative AI video generation platform, Sora, aimed at improving user experience for both Pro and standard subscribers. In a tweet from October 16, 2025, the company revealed that Pro users can now utilize 'storyboards' directly within the Sora web platform, enhancing the visual storytelling process and making content planning more intuitive. The Sora 2 update also expands video generation capabilities for all users, allowing them to create videos up to 15 seconds long on both the Sora app and web interface. Pro users benefit from an extended limit, giving them the ability to produce videos lasting up to 25 seconds online. Launched on September 30, the Sora 2 app enables users to generate and share lifelike video 'cameos' of themselves using simple text prompts, merging advanced video synthesis with social media-like features familiar to Instagram and TikTok. With Sora 2, users can craft realistic AI avatars, termed ‘Cameos’, and incorporate them into short, AI-generated video scenarios. By inputting just a few words, users can create digital representations of themselves engaging in various activities, from playing beach volleyball to wrestling an elephant. This update is powered by OpenAI's latest Sora 2 model, which showcases significant advancements in realistic video generation and character animation. Users can choose to share their video creations publicly, remix them, or keep them private. However, since its launch, Sora 2 has faced challenges with numerous fake and misleading copies emerging across app stores, leading to confusion among users outside North America regarding which version is authentic. A report from 9to5Mac highlighted that a clone app named 'Sora 2: AI Video Generator' ranked ninth in Apple’s 'Top Photo & Video' category, among many imitators using OpenAI’s branding and logos. Some of these clones incorporate in-app purchases and expensive subscription models, potentially misleading users into thinking they are interacting with the official app.
