OpenAI has unveiled a significant update to its GPT-5 Instant model, which aims to improve support during sensitive or distressing conversations. In a recent announcement on X, the company revealed that dialogues identified as delicate will now be directed to GPT-5 Instant. This adjustment is intended to provide users with quicker and more thoughtful responses when they need additional support. The rollout of these enhancements has already commenced for ChatGPT users. OpenAI reassured that ChatGPT will continue to inform users about which model is currently in operation whenever they inquire. "We’re updating GPT-5 Instant to better recognize and assist individuals in distress. Sensitive parts of conversations will now route to GPT-5 Instant to provide even more helpful responses," the company tweeted. In addition to this, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, announced the first major updates for Sora, the company’s experimental video-generation tool, following comprehensive feedback from users, creators, and rights holders. In a blog post, Altman shared that Sora will soon introduce enhanced features for rights holders, offering them greater control over how their characters are utilized within the platform. The forthcoming system will build upon the existing opt-in method for likeness usage while adding new layers of control, such as options to restrict or block specific applications altogether. Altman noted that while many creators view Sora as a promising medium for interactive storytelling and audience engagement, there is a strong demand for more robust safeguards. He emphasized the importance of establishing a consistent framework that empowers rights holders to make the final decisions regarding their content. Altman also acknowledged the significant influence of Japanese cultural works on Sora’s development, highlighting the strong interest within that community. "The depth of connection between our community and Japanese content has been striking," he remarked.
