OnePlus is reportedly expanding its portfolio beyond standard smartphones with plans to develop a dedicated gaming device. Following the announcement of its Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 launches in India, the company is now exploring a specialized smartphone designed specifically for mobile gaming enthusiasts. According to industry insider Yogesh Brar, who has a reputation for providing accurate information, OnePlus is in the early stages of creating a 'sub-series' of gaming phones. This project is still in its experimental phase, indicating that the development team is actively researching and refining the concept. Initial details suggest that the upcoming device could be equipped with top-tier specifications, including a powerful flagship processor, an extensive battery, and physical shoulder triggers. These features are intended to significantly enhance the gaming experience by providing better responsiveness and tactile feedback, hallmarks of dedicated gaming devices. However, Brar has pointed out that the likelihood of a global release for this gaming smartphone remains uncertain. He remarked that it might only see a release in the Chinese market, should it reach the production stage. If successful, this venture would position OnePlus in a competitive arena dominated by established gaming phone brands such as Asus and Nubia, with their ROG Phone 9 series and Red Magic 10 Pro series respectively. While OnePlus has yet to officially confirm these plans, the introduction of a dedicated gaming smartphone would represent a significant step for the brand, which has already made waves with its existing models. The recently launched OnePlus 13, featuring a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, caters to power users, but a gaming-focused sub-brand could elevate its appeal even further.
