On October 16, 2025, OnePlus launched OxygenOS 16, the newest iteration of its mobile operating system designed for smartphones and tablets. This update is packed with innovative artificial intelligence capabilities, enhanced system performance, and improved cross-device functionality, starting with the OnePlus 15 before being rolled out to earlier models. One standout feature is Plus Mind, a centralized hub called Mind Space that organizes on-screen content. Users can easily access this feature through a dedicated key or a three-finger swipe. Plus Mind can intelligently extract contextual information, such as dates from event posters, to suggest calendar entries. Additionally, it supports long screenshots and enables users to assign the Plus Key for various functions, including camera access, flashlight activation, and toggling between ring, vibrate, and silent modes. The integration of Google Gemini allows for context-aware recommendations by accessing content stored in Mind Space. For instance, users can ask for a home decor plan based on their saved designs, with Gemini providing tailored suggestions. OxygenOS 16 also features an AI Productivity Suite, which includes tools like AI Writer, mind maps, charts, and AI Scan for converting documents and receipts into editable PDFs. For photography enthusiasts, the update introduces AI Portrait Glow and AI Perfect Shot. Experimental features are also available through the AI PlayLab, including YumSee (text-to-image) and Party Up (image-to-video). The update introduces Parallel Processing 2.0, enhancing system fluidity by allowing new animations to start before previous actions finish. Seamless Cross-Ecosystem Connectivity is another highlight, facilitating smooth integration with Windows and Mac PCs, as well as Apple devices. This includes features like Apple Watch notifications, camera control, and health data synchronization. Visually, OxygenOS 16 boasts a redesigned interface with the Flux Theme 2.0, dynamic wallpapers, and a fresh look for native apps like Clock and Calculator, now featuring updated visual feedback. The redesigned Fluid Cloud serves as an interactive hub for third-party app notifications and updates. Security is a top priority, with the introduction of the Private Computing Cloud, a framework that safeguards sensitive data at both GPU and CPU levels while ensuring privacy in cloud storage. For tablet users, the update enhances the interface with a scalable home screen, an expanded app dock supporting up to 18 apps, and multitasking capabilities via Open Canvas, allowing for simultaneous use of five apps. Tablets will also benefit from integration with Windows PCs for effortless file transfer and virtual trackpad control. In addition to built-in video editing features in the Photos app, the Open Beta Program will commence on October 17, 2025, providing early access to these exciting new features. The OnePlus 15 will ship with OxygenOS 16 out of the box, with a gradual rollout planned for other devices.
