OnePlus to replace OxygenOS with ColorOS; Confirms US and Europe exit

OnePlus has made a significant announcement detailing its strategic shift in operations, which includes exiting the US and European markets. The tech company revealed that eligible devices will transition from its OxygenOS to Oppo's ColorOS, coinciding with the upcoming Android 17 update. This decision is part of a broader strategy to enhance software development efficiency in collaboration with its parent company, Oppo. In a statement, OnePlus acknowledged the challenge of this decision, emphasizing their commitment to transparency with loyal customers. "As part of our proactive global strategy adjustment, we have decided to halt new product launches in North America," the company explained. Despite these changes, OnePlus assured current users in the affected regions that they will continue receiving software updates, security patches, and warranty services, with customer support remaining unchanged. Regarding its operations in India, OnePlus expressed its ongoing commitment, stating, "Our dedication to our users, partners, and community remains strong." Indian users will also experience the transition to ColorOS with the upcoming Android 17 update. The company noted that devices eligible for this update can opt for the transition once it becomes available. By adopting ColorOS, OnePlus aims to expedite software updates and enhance overall software quality through a unified development platform. This collaboration with Oppo will enable both brands to share resources effectively, allowing for a streamlined software development process. In a reassuring message to its users, OnePlus confirmed its commitment to the Indian market, promising to continue launching new products while providing support to its existing customer base.
