OnePlus confirms Android 16 powered OxygenOS 16 to launch in India on 16 October

OnePlus has officially announced that OxygenOS 16 will launch in India on October 16. This upcoming version of the operating system will be built on Android 16 and promises to incorporate a range of artificial intelligence-driven features, as suggested in a recent social media post by the company. Over the years, OxygenOS has established itself as one of the fastest and most fluid user interfaces available in the Android ecosystem. While it shares similarities with the custom skins of Realme and Oppo devices, OnePlus users benefit from a streamlined experience free of ads and unnecessary bloatware. Having tested several devices running OxygenOS 15 this year, I can confidently say there is much to admire about its performance. Users can expect rapid response times, innovative AI features, natural language search capabilities, and even the ability to share files seamlessly with iPhones. In its previous release, the OnePlus 13 series introduced exciting new functionalities, including the 'Plus Mind' feature—essentially a personal memory tool. This functionality will receive an upgrade with Gemini integration, allowing users to pose questions based on their stored content. OxygenOS 16 is anticipated to follow a similar trajectory, likely unveiling even more AI features such as AI translation, AI detail enhancement, AI unblurring, AI reflection removal, and AI voice transcription. The launch is particularly noteworthy, occurring just one day after Oppo's ColorOS 16 debut in China. Though OnePlus has yet to reveal further details about OxygenOS 16, it seems reasonable to expect enhanced AI capabilities and deeper integration with Google Gemini. Following the improvements seen in animations and customization options with OxygenOS 15, users can likely look forward to similar advancements with the upcoming release. Notably, the OnePlus 15, expected to launch globally next month, may be the first device to ship with OxygenOS 16 pre-installed.
