OnePlus is gearing up for the release of its OxygenOS 16 update in India this month, introducing a host of new AI capabilities. While the company has been somewhat reserved about specific features or the devices that will receive the update first, a recent community post has provided insight into which models are likely to be included. Potential devices slated for the Android 16-powered update feature a range of models, including the OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13S, OnePlus Open, OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, and several from the Nord series, such as Nord 5, Nord 4, Nord 3, and various Nord CE models. Notably, the update is expected to be the final one for the Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite, as well as the OnePlus Nord 3, which originally came with limited update promises from the manufacturer. The official launch of OxygenOS 16 is set for October 16, but it’s important to note that not all devices will receive the update simultaneously. The rollout will begin with the latest flagships, namely the OnePlus 13 series, before expanding to older models and eventually reaching mid-range devices like those in the Nord lineup. This significant update aims to bring the Android 16 experience to eligible devices while incorporating various new AI features. OnePlus has confirmed that the Gemini AI will be integrated into its ‘Plus Mind’ functionality, enhancing the AI assistant’s capabilities by allowing it to utilize screenshots from apps for tasks such as trip planning. While leaks suggest that new lock-screen widgets may also be introduced, official confirmation is still awaited. Users can expect a fresh look with updated icons, smoother animations, and enhancements to both the settings and notification panels, but further details will be revealed closer to the launch date.
