In recent months, OnePlus has garnered attention for its audio products, including the Buds 3 Pro and Buds 4. Now, the spotlight is on their latest budget offering, the Nord Buds 3r. After using these entry-level true wireless earbuds for three weeks, I’m excited to share my insights. Unboxing the Nord Buds 3r reveals a thoughtfully designed package. Inside the sleek blue and black box, you'll find the earphone case, wrapped in protective plastic, alongside a sticker, extra ear tips, and an instruction manual. OnePlus has moved away from the pebble-like design of previous models, opting for a stylish rectangular case with slanted edges, which adds a unique character. The matte finish of the case not only looks modern but also resists smudges and fingerprints. The case features a bottom-mounted USB-C charging port and an LED indicator; however, it lacks a dedicated pairing button, even though it supports dual-device connectivity. Strong magnets ensure the earbuds stay secure in the case, but the lid opens easily, which may be a concern for some users. When it comes to performance, OnePlus makes it convenient for users with their devices, as no separate app is needed to access the Nord Buds 3r's settings. For those with devices from other brands, the Hey Melody app is available for download. Thanks to Google Fast Pair, these earbuds connect to your phone immediately upon removal from the case. Comfort is a highlight, as the lightweight design (approximately 5g per bud) allows for extended use without discomfort, making them ideal for workouts or runs. With an IP55 rating, they can handle some sweat and light rain, enhancing their versatility. Audio quality is respectable for the price, with a slight emphasis on bass over vocals. I tested them while watching movies on my tablet, and the experience was smooth without any noticeable issues. The Hey Melody app allows for audio customization with presets and an adjustable equalizer. Additionally, users can enjoy customizable controls for playback and volume adjustment. Notably, features like AI Translate (exclusive to OnePlus devices) and camera capture via the earbuds set the Nord Buds 3r apart in this price range. Battery life is impressive, boasting a claimed 54 hours of playback, with 12 hours directly from the buds. While I couldn't verify the full claims, I experienced 10-15 hours of use without needing to recharge the case, indicating substantial battery longevity. It’s important to mention the absence of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which might pose challenges in noisy environments. Priced at ₹1,599, the Nord Buds 3r can often be found for under ₹1,500 during sales. With decent sound quality, a secure fit, a modern case design, an IP55 rating, and excellent battery performance, these earbuds are a compelling choice if you can overlook the lack of ANC.
