OnePlus has made headlines with its recent launch of the OnePlus 15 in India and other global markets, breaking its usual trend of unveiling flagship smartphones in January. Traditionally, the Chinese tech giant also introduces a more affordable R series model to complement its flagship, but this year, the OnePlus 15R was notably absent from the event. In light of this, OnePlus has issued a statement assuring fans that the OnePlus 15R will be released shortly, with a tentative debut expected in December. Although specific details about the 15R's features remain under wraps, hints suggest it may closely resemble the recently launched Ace 6 in China, which is anticipated to be rebranded as the 15R. The OnePlus Ace 6 sports an impressive 6.83-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display, boasting a 165Hz refresh rate. While it shares the same robust IP ratings for water and dust resistance as the OnePlus 15, it is yet to be confirmed whether these features will carry over to the 15R. Powering the Ace 6 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and considering OnePlus’s pattern of equipping its R series with last year's flagship chips, this specification seems likely for the upcoming model. The OnePlus 15R will operate on OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16, and will omit the alert slider present in its predecessor, opting for the new Plus Key instead. Unlike the previous 13R, which lacked Hasselblad branding, it remains uncertain if OnePlus will incorporate its new DetailMax Engine for the camera system of the 15R. In terms of photography capabilities, the Ace 6 features a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, while selfies are handled by a 16MP front-facing camera. The device is equipped with a substantial 7,800mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging. Historically, the R lineup has not included wireless charging, and it’s expected that the tradition will continue with the 15R. With the base variant of the OnePlus Ace 6 starting at 2,599 yuan (approximately ₹32,000) in China—reflecting a price increase from its predecessor—there’s speculation that the OnePlus 15R could also see a price hike, possibly starting around ₹45,000, compared to the ₹42,999 price point of the previous model. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
