OnePlus 15R to be the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

OnePlus has officially announced that its upcoming flagship device, the OnePlus 15R, will make history as the first smartphone globally to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform. This latest addition to the OnePlus R series emphasizes high performance and top-tier gaming capabilities. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 marks a significant upgrade in Qualcomm's lineup, boasting a 36% enhancement in CPU performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Additionally, users can expect an 11% boost in GPU performance and an impressive 46% increase in AI capabilities. Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "OnePlus has always led the way in speed, and I'm thrilled that OnePlus 15R, our new performance flagship, will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, one of the fastest and most powerful chipsets on the market." Liu also highlighted the collaboration with Qualcomm, emphasizing their joint efforts to optimize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform for users’ needs. He noted his anticipation for consumer response once the OnePlus 15R hits the market later this year. Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, expressed pride in the partnership with OnePlus, stating, "By combining our latest premium platform with OnePlus’s commitment to performance, we’re enabling users to experience new levels of speed, intelligence, and efficiency." The full unveiling of the OnePlus 15R is scheduled for December 17, with additional details expected in the coming weeks.
