OnePlus 13R vs OnePlus 15R: 5 major upgrades confirmed ahead of launch

OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of its latest addition to the R series, the OnePlus 15R, which is scheduled to make its debut in India on December 17. As anticipation builds, the company has unveiled several significant upgrades that this new model will feature. The OnePlus 15R will sport a stunning 1.5K 165Hz AMOLED display, matching the high refresh rate of its more expensive counterpart. While it may not utilize an LTPO panel—capable of dynamically adjusting from 1Hz to 165Hz—this enhancement promises a smoother visual experience, particularly for gamers who enjoy fast-paced action. In terms of photography, the device will include an impressive 32MP front-facing camera with autofocus, a notable upgrade from the 16MP camera found on the OnePlus 13R. This enhancement should lead to sharper images, especially in low-light conditions. Furthermore, users will be able to record 4K video at 30 frames per second, a significant improvement over the previous model's 1080p capability. Battery life is receiving a substantial upgrade as well, with the OnePlus 15R expected to house a robust 7,400mAh battery, up from the 6,000mAh offered in the 13R. Although OnePlus has yet to announce the charging capacity, it is anticipated that the device will support the same 80W wired fast charging as its predecessor. However, details on wireless charging support remain unclear. Historically, OnePlus has reserved the Hasselblad branding for its flagship models, but with the conclusion of their partnership, the upcoming R series will benefit from the company’s proprietary DetailMax engine and advanced camera algorithms. The integration of additional technology, such as the G2 Wi-Fi chip and a Touch Response Chip, first introduced with the OnePlus 15, will also be present in the 15R. Aesthetic enhancements are also part of the package, as the OnePlus 15R showcases a refined design that, while consistent with the look of previous models, features distinctive color options and a premium glass finish, setting it apart from its predecessors.
