The OnePlus 15R is poised for its official launch in India today, alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2, at a highly anticipated event hosted by the renowned Chinese smartphone manufacturer. This new model is designed to replace the OnePlus 13R and is expected to position itself as a leading contender within the ₹50,000 price range, rivaling popular offerings from Oppo and Vivo. The unveiling will take place during the 'Rise as One' event in Bengaluru, starting at 7:30 PM IST. Tech enthusiasts can tune in to the live stream on the OnePlus India YouTube channel, with a direct link provided for easy access. The OnePlus 15R is confirmed to sport a 1.5K AMOLED display with an impressive 165Hz refresh rate, making it comparable to the OnePlus 15. However, it may utilize an LTPS panel instead. OnePlus claims that the device will achieve a peak brightness of 1,800 nits and will offer an ultra-low brightness mode, allowing it to operate at just 2 nits, enhancing usability in dim environments. Under the hood, the 15R will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, complemented by a new G2 Wi-Fi chip and a dedicated touch response chip. The device will leverage the same DetailMax engine for its camera capabilities, a shift from the previous Hasselblad collaboration. Additionally, it will be equipped with a robust 7,400mAh battery that supports 80W wired fast charging. For durability, the OnePlus 15R boasts impressive water and dust resistance ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, marking a significant milestone as it aligns the flagship and R series in terms of resilience. A notable enhancement in the camera department includes a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus, a substantial upgrade from the 16MP front-facing camera of its predecessor. In a design shift, the device will replace the traditional alert slider with the Plus Key, a customizable button that can be programmed for various functions, such as adjusting ring profiles or capturing photos. The OnePlus 13R was initially priced between ₹42,999 and ₹49,999, leading to speculation that the 15R might debut around ₹45,000 due to the ongoing memory chip shortages affecting device pricing. The final price will be revealed during today’s launch event, so stay tuned for updates.
