OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, during a Qualcomm event tailored for the Chinese market. The announcement put to rest any lingering speculation about the device's specifications and design. During the presentation, a OnePlus representative showcased the new device, revealing that it is equipped with the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This marks a significant upgrade for the brand, as it makes a notable design shift by moving away from the circular camera module seen in previous models, opting instead for a squarish design reminiscent of the OnePlus 13. The OnePlus 15 was initially displayed in a sleek black finish, while images circulating online from an e-sports competition in China suggested the existence of a white variant as well. Additionally, OnePlus confirmed in a press release that it will no longer partner with Hasselblad for camera technology, instead introducing its own DetailMax engine for enhanced photography. According to Pete Lau, Founder of OnePlus, "With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at its core, OnePlus 15 carries that legacy forward—delivering the speed, intelligence, and efficiency our users demand today and into the future." The device boasts an impressive 165Hz refresh rate, a feature that had been anticipated based on prior leaks. Rumors suggest the OnePlus 15 may feature a 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, which is a step down from the 2K quad-curved panel of its predecessor. Furthermore, if the leaks hold true, the phone could come with a massive 7,000mAh battery, an upgrade from the previous 6,000mAh capacity, along with support for 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. On the photography front, the OnePlus 15 is expected to maintain a 50MP triple-camera setup, similar to last year’s model, with the telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom capabilities. Additionally, it might be among the first devices to run the anticipated OxygenOS 16 UI based on Android 16. While OnePlus has yet to officially confirm the new operating system, it is expected to follow shortly after Oppo's reveal of ColorOS 16 next month.
