OnePlus has commenced the rollout of its OxygenOS 16 update, powered by Android 16, for OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13s devices in India. This latest update introduces a host of features, including enhanced animations, customizable lock screens, and a range of new AI functionalities. The company has integrated its innovative 'Parallel Processing 2.0' technology, which allows for smoother animations throughout the user interface. This technology enables animations to initiate before previous actions are completed, creating a more fluid experience during system interactions, navigation gestures, and app transitions. In addition to aesthetic improvements, users will find a new home screen setting that lets them adjust the size of app folders and icons to their liking. The update also optimizes the interface for tablet use, allowing users to have up to five applications open simultaneously in Open Canvas, as well as support for three apps in split view and two in a floating window. OxygenOS 16 features the new Flux Theme 2.0, offering options for video wallpapers and Motion Photos that add depth effects to user interactions. The full-screen Always On Display (AOD) feature now allows users to see their wallpaper and relevant information while the device is locked. In a significant enhancement, OnePlus has integrated lock screen widgets, which can be arranged horizontally or vertically based on the selected theme. Users can now receive live updates and alerts from various applications, including food delivery and music streaming services, directly on their lock screens. Moreover, the updated visual design brings a translucent interface with rounded corners and Gaussian blur effects, enhancing the App Drawer, Home Screen, and Quick Settings. First-party apps like Calculator and Clock have also been refreshed with new features and designs. Perhaps the most notable advancement in AI capabilities is the introduction of Plus Mind. Initially launched with the OnePlus 13s, this feature has evolved significantly. Users can now share images, record voice memos of up to one minute by pressing the Plus Key, and utilize extended screenshot capture to save additional reading material or articles. To access the latest OxygenOS version, users should navigate to Settings, then Software Update, where they will find the option to download and install the update. It's advisable to ensure there is adequate storage and at least 30% battery life before proceeding with the installation. OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 13 and 13s are among the first devices to receive the OxygenOS 16 update, with additional models, including OnePlus 13R, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Pad, slated for updates later this month. A second wave of updates is expected in December, followed by a final rollout phase between January and March 2026 for other models such as the OnePlus Pad and OnePlus Nord series.
