Nvidia is staffing up as it draws heightened scrutiny. These are the key leaders it gained and lost last year.

Nvidia is undergoing significant changes in its leadership team as it navigates increased scrutiny and expands its influence in the tech industry. The company has made notable additions to its senior ranks while also experiencing key departures. Among the prominent hires is Alison Wagonfeld, who joins as Nvidia's first Chief Marketing Officer. Previously a veteran at Google Cloud, Wagonfeld's arrival highlights Nvidia's strategic push to enhance its marketing and communication efforts as the company enters a new growth phase. In addition to Wagonfeld, Nvidia has acquired several senior software leaders through various startup deals, emphasizing the chipmaker's commitment to accelerating its growth trajectory. The company has also looked beyond traditional tech roles, recruiting talent from both government and academic sectors to strengthen its expertise. Despite the departures of key figures such as Keith Strier, the former vice president of worldwide AI initiatives, and enterprise computing executive Manuvir Das, turnover at the senior level has been relatively controlled in 2025. This stability may reflect Nvidia's ongoing focus on solidifying its leadership amid the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Kristin Major, who joined as Senior Vice President of Human Resources, brings over 13 years of experience from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, where she held various roles in legal and HR departments. Major now serves on CEO Jensen Huang's executive leadership team. Jiantao Jiao, who previously co-founded Nexusflow AI and is a professor at UC Berkeley, is also a new addition, focusing on AI post-training evaluation and enhancing collaboration between academia and industry. Meanwhile, Mark Weatherford has stepped into the role of head of cybersecurity policy and strategic engagement, bringing extensive public and private sector experience. Notably, the recent acqui-hire of Rochan Sankar, founder and CEO of Enfabrica, underscores Nvidia's strategy to bolster its capabilities in handling large AI workloads. This deal included licensing Enfabrica's technology, further solidifying Nvidia's position in the competitive AI market. As Nvidia continues to grow, it also retains a commitment to open-source initiatives, as seen with the acquisition of Danny Auble's startup SchedMD. Auble now serves as Nvidia's Senior Director of System Software, with plans to maintain and invest in the open-source workload management software Slurm. The tech giant's leadership evolution reflects both its ambitious growth plans and the challenges it faces as it aims to remain at the forefront of AI innovation. As Nvidia adapts to the changing landscape, the significance of its leadership choices will be crucial in shaping its future success.
