‘This is an incredible time to be a…’: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on ‘SaaSpocalypse’

During his keynote at Computex 2026, Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang addressed the prevailing anxieties surrounding the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on traditional software companies. This discussion comes amidst fears of a so-called 'SaaSpocalypse,' a term reflecting concerns that AI could render many software products obsolete, a notion that has stirred apprehension among investors and analysts. Huang emphasized that AI agents will fundamentally depend on existing software tools, databases, and platforms to perform their functions, suggesting that these agents may eventually utilize more software than humans do today. He rebutted claims that the emergence of AI would lead to the downfall of software companies, stating, "A lot of people have said, ‘Jensen, AI is coming. Agentic AI is coming. Therefore, all of the software companies are going to go out of business.’" Instead, Huang believes this is a golden era for software firms, asserting that their relevance will only grow as AI agents begin to depend more heavily on their services. He pointed out the necessity for software to be designed in a way that facilitates ease of use for AI agents. This shift could lead to a surge in demand for software, requiring companies to rethink their product designs and interfaces to ensure seamless interactions with AI. Huang's optimism reflects a broader sentiment among tech leaders. Renowned figures in the AI sector, including OpenAI's Sam Altman and Anthropic's Dario Amodei, share similar views on the enduring importance of software companies in a future dominated by AI technologies. Infosys Ltd chairman Nandan Nilekani also reinforced this perspective, noting that AI is creating a greater need for IT expertise rather than eliminating it. As such, it appears that software companies are poised to adapt and thrive alongside the advancements in AI.
