Initially, it appeared that Huang had not received an invitation to accompany the president, prompting media speculation about his absence. However, after noticing this coverage, Trump reached out directly to Huang, inviting him to join the trip, according to sources familiar with the situation. Huang quickly made his way to Alaska to board Air Force One, underscoring the urgency of the invitation. During this significant visit, Trump is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday, bringing along more than a dozen top U.S. executives to foster discussions on trade and collaboration. A spokesperson from Nvidia confirmed that Huang’s participation was at the behest of President Trump, emphasizing the importance of supporting American interests and the administration's objectives. While Nvidia reiterated this message when questioned about Huang's unexpected inclusion in the delegation, they did not elaborate on the reasons behind the last-minute decision. The White House has yet to respond to requests for further comment. This visit comes at a time when Nvidia's cutting-edge chips, crucial for artificial intelligence training, have been facing increased U.S. restrictions on sales to China.
