Nvidia's Jensen Huang says Marvell could be the next trillion-dollar company; stock jumps 25%

Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has identified Marvell Technology as a potential trillion-dollar company, a statement that has led to a remarkable 25% rise in its stock during premarket trading on Tuesday. This surge follows Huang's comments during an appearance with Marvell's CEO, Matthew Murphy, at Computex Week in Taipei, where he praised Marvell for its pivotal role in the development of AI infrastructure. As of 6:05 am ET, Marvell’s stock was up significantly, marking an impressive increase of over 158% year-to-date. Huang emphasized that Marvell's networking and connectivity chips are crucial for modern data centers, which rely on thousands of interconnected chips to efficiently share and process data. Huang articulated the necessity of connectivity in distributed computing, stating, "When you take a computing problem, and you disaggregate it into a lot of parts, and you distribute it across the entire data center, what's necessary is connectivity." He credited Marvell's success to its essential contributions in this area, stating that their technology is fundamental to the functionality of large-scale computing operations. Marvell is renowned for its high-performance chips that support various sectors, including cloud computing, AI, enterprise networking, 5G networks, and automotive applications. In a significant move, Nvidia has recently pledged a $2 billion investment in Marvell, further underscoring its confidence in the company’s potential. Additionally, Nvidia is channeling billions into other companies focused on photonics technology, which utilizes light for data transmission—a method touted to be more efficient than traditional electrical data transfer.
