Nvidia CEO says the UK is in a 'Goldilocks' moment: 'I'm going to invest here'

In a recent panel discussion in London, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, expressed his strong commitment to investing in the United Kingdom's artificial intelligence sector. Huang characterized the current landscape as a 'Goldilocks circumstance,' indicating the ideal conditions for growth and innovation in AI. During his conversation alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Investment Minister Poppy Gustafsson, Huang highlighted the critical need for advanced computing capabilities in machine learning, asserting that the establishment of AI supercomputers in the UK would inevitably draw more startups to the region. Huang stated, "I think it's just such an incredible, incredible place to invest. I'm going to invest here," while praising the UK’s vibrant AI community, which includes notable startups like DeepMind, Wayve, and Synthesia, as well as ElevenLabs. He pointed out that while the ecosystem is primed for explosive growth, it currently lacks essential homegrown AI infrastructure. On the same day, Nvidia announced the formation of a new UK sovereign AI industry forum, alongside commitments from cloud service providers Nscale and Nebius to establish new facilities equipped with Nvidia's latest Blackwell GPU chips. The UK government has been actively promoting its ambitions to become a prominent player in the global AI arena, aligning with Keir Starmer's growth-centric agenda. Earlier this year, Starmer outlined an ambitious strategy to enhance the domestic AI sector by easing regulations on new data center developments and aiming to increase the country's computing power by a staggering twenty-fold by 2030.
