Nvidia CEO wants Taiwan to be center of “AI revolution,” not US

In a significant announcement, Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang declared that the company will invest a staggering $150 billion annually to ensure Taiwan remains central to the global AI industry. Speaking at a recent event, Huang highlighted Taiwan's vital role in chip production, packaging, and the development of AI supercomputers, stating, "This is where the chips come, packaging comes, this is where the systems are made." Huang expressed confidence that the partnership with Taiwan would solidify the nation as the leading tech manufacturing center for years to come. Nvidia aims to establish a new headquarters in Taiwan that is expected to drive substantial innovation in AI, with plans to commence construction this year and complete the project by 2030. He noted that Nvidia's investment in Taiwan has dramatically increased from around $10-15 billion a year to an ambitious $150 billion. As the world's most valuable company, Nvidia made history in 2025 with a $5 trillion market capitalization, and Huang believes that this new base in Taiwan will enhance the company’s value even further in the coming years. However, Huang has yet to address how Nvidia’s strategy in Taiwan aligns with former President Donald Trump’s initiative to establish the US as the premier AI hub. Last year, Nvidia began manufacturing AI chips in the US, a move interpreted as a response to Trump's calls for increased domestic production, a key element of his AI Action Plan.
