Nvidia has already committed $40B to equity AI deals this year

Nvidia is making waves in the artificial intelligence sector with a staggering commitment of over $40 billion to equity investments in AI firms this year alone. This figure, reported by CNBC, underscores the company's aggressive strategy in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. A significant portion of this investment is attributed to a landmark $30 billion stake in OpenAI, highlighting Nvidia's confidence in the future of AI technology. In addition to this major investment, Nvidia has also announced a series of seven multi-billion dollar deals with publicly traded companies. Notable among these are recent investments of up to $3.2 billion in the glass manufacturing giant Corning and up to $2.1 billion in data center operator IREN. This follows a trend from 2025, where Nvidia was involved in 67 venture deals with various AI startups, further solidifying its role as a key player in the sector. According to FactSet data, Nvidia has already engaged in around two dozen investment rounds in private startups this year, illustrating its proactive approach in fostering innovation. However, this strategy has invited scrutiny. Some analysts, including Wedbush Securities' Matthew Bryson, have pointed out that Nvidia's investments often appear to create a circular investment trend, where funds circulate among its own customers. Bryson has remarked that while these circular deals raise concerns, if executed successfully, they could enhance Nvidia's competitive edge in the market.
