Nvidia reportedly plans to release new AI chip designed for China

Nvidia is making strategic moves to penetrate the Chinese market with the introduction of a new AI chip, despite ongoing U.S. export restrictions. Reports indicate that this chip could debut as early as September, according to insights from the Financial Times. This forthcoming AI chip is expected to be derived from Nvidia’s Blackwell RTX Pro 6000 processor. Notably, it has been adjusted to comply with current AI chip regulations. However, this new offering will lack certain advanced features found in Nvidia’s premium AI chips, such as high-bandwidth memory and NVLink, the company's low-latency communication interface. In a previous statement, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced that the company would exclude the Chinese market from its revenue and profit forecasts moving forward. Nevertheless, this strategy may be temporary as Nvidia seeks to navigate the complexities of international trade. TechCrunch has reached out to Nvidia for further clarification on this development.
