Nvidia to power Mira Murati’s Thinking Machines Lab in major chip deal

Nvidia has entered into a significant multi-year chip supply agreement with Thinking Machines Lab, an AI startup led by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati. The deal, reported to be worth tens of billions of dollars, aims to enhance the capabilities of Thinking Machines' enterprise AI platform. The agreement includes the deployment of at least one gigawatt of Nvidia's forthcoming Vera Rubin chips, which will support the training of Thinking Machines' advanced models and provide scalable, customizable AI solutions. In addition to the chip supply, Nvidia has made a substantial investment in the startup, further solidifying their commitment to its long-term growth. Nvidia's founder and CEO Jensen Huang expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "AI is the most powerful knowledge discovery instrument in human history." He acknowledged the exceptional team at Thinking Machines and their ambitious vision for the future of AI. Mira Murati, the founder of Thinking Machines, emphasized the significance of the partnership, describing Nvidia's technology as foundational to the entire AI landscape. Beyond just the chip supply, Nvidia's involvement in Thinking Machines' $2 billion seed funding round last year, which valued the company at $10 billion, showcases a deep commitment to this collaboration. Together, they aim to develop AI technologies that enhance human capabilities, presenting AI not as a replacement, but as a tool for greater achievement.
