For avid PC gamers, the frustration of waiting for shader compilation during game load times may soon be a thing of the past. Nvidia has unveiled the latest beta version of its app, which introduces a groundbreaking feature designed to optimize gaming performance. This new capability, part of the app's update, allows users to automatically compile shaders while their machines are idle. This Auto Shader Compilation system is engineered to minimize the need for runtime shader compilation after driver updates. It is available for users operating Nvidia’s GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.97 WHQL or newer. When enabled, the app will proactively rebuild DirectX drivers for games during idle periods, ensuring that everything is prepared for a seamless launch the next time a game is played. Initially, this feature is disabled upon downloading the Nvidia App. However, users can easily activate it by navigating to the Graphics Tab, selecting Global Settings, and then Shader Cache. From there, they can allocate disk space for precompiled shaders and customize the amount of system resources dedicated to the compilation process. Additionally, the app provides the option for users to manually initiate shader recompilation, eliminating the need to wait for idle time.
