Nvidia insiders reportedly dump more than $1 billion in stock

Recent reports indicate that insiders at Nvidia, the prominent AI chip manufacturer, have sold more than $1 billion in stock over the past year. According to the Financial Times, approximately $500 million of this amount was sold in just the last month, coinciding with the stock market reaching new heights and overcoming geopolitical uncertainties that had previously unsettled investors. Despite ongoing concerns regarding restrictions on AI chip exports, Nvidia's stock has surged by over 17% this year and an impressive 44% in the last three months. Securities filings revealed that the company's CEO, Jensen Huang, recently sold around $15 million worth of shares. This sale is part of a broader strategy announced in March, where he plans to divest up to 6 million shares by year-end, totaling more than $900 million. Huang's estimated net worth stands at approximately $138 billion, placing him as the 11th richest individual on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Last week, Nvidia's stock reached a new record high, experiencing five consecutive days of gains following the insider sales and a pivotal annual shareholder meeting. During this meeting, Huang identified robotics as the next significant opportunity for the company, following AI. The Financial Times referenced data from VerityData, which suggested that the stock price exceeding $150 triggered the decision for the stock sales. Notably, last year, Huang had already sold over $700 million in Nvidia shares as part of a previously arranged plan. Nvidia has yet to respond to inquiries from CNBC regarding these developments.
