Nvidia's investment arm, NVentures, has made a significant move by investing in Legora, a Swedish AI legal technology firm, which is currently valued at an impressive $5.6 billion. This investment is part of a $50 million extension to Legora's Series D funding, which has now reached a total of $600 million following an initial close in March. Notably, this funding round has also attracted participation from well-known entities like Atlassian, Adams Street Partners, and Insight. The surge in investment towards promising AI startups highlights the growing belief in the transformative potential of AI technology across various sectors. Nvidia's recent focus on startup investments reflects its strategy to enhance relationships with some of the most innovative companies globally, providing not just capital, but also technical support and supply chain resources. Legora marks Nvidia's inaugural investment in the legal technology space, according to data from Dealroom, although the specific amount of Nvidia's investment has not been disclosed. The AI firm is dedicated to developing intelligent agents and tools designed to automate and optimize legal workflows. This month, Legora launched an advertising campaign featuring actor Jude Law, promoting the tagline: "Law just got more attractive." Max Junestrand, Legora's CEO and cofounder, expressed excitement about the direction of enterprise AI, stating, "Foundation models are improving rapidly, but the real breakthrough is in how they're applied, where AI doesn't just assist, but executes autonomously with the right level of human oversight." As U.S.-based AI firms like OpenAI and Anthropic have secured substantial funding in 2026, Legora represents a trend among European tech companies also achieving record funding. According to Dealroom, European AI startups have garnered $15.1 billion in investments so far this year, indicating a trajectory to surpass the $21.6 billion raised in 2025. The legal tech sector utilizing AI raised $3.7 billion globally in 2025, with expectations for similar figures in 2026 based on current funding trends. In March, during Legora's significant funding round, U.S. competitor Harvey raised $200 million at an $11 billion valuation. Over the past year, Legora has expanded its workforce from 40 to 400 employees, establishing a presence in major cities including Stockholm, London, New York, Denver, Sydney, and Bengaluru. The company recently noted that it has exceeded $100 million in annual recurring revenue and currently serves tens of thousands of legal professionals across leading corporate legal departments and law firms such as Barclays, White & Case, HSFK, and Linklaters.
