Nvidia has expressed optimism about resuming its H20 general processing unit sales to Chinese clients, following assurances from the U.S. government regarding license approvals. Sales of these specially designed H20 chips were suspended in April to comply with export regulations aimed at China. In a recent statement, Nvidia indicated that it expects to initiate deliveries shortly as licenses are anticipated to be granted. CEO Jensen Huang has been actively advocating against stringent export controls, asserting that such restrictions have compromised America's technological leadership. Earlier this year, he highlighted that these chip limitations have nearly halved Nvidia's market share in China. During a recent announcement, Huang also introduced a new GPU, the NVIDIA RTX PRO, which he described as "fully compliant" and particularly suited for digital twin AI applications in smart factories and logistics. This potential policy shift comes on the heels of Huang's meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump last week, coinciding with his visit to China. In discussions with Trump and other U.S. officials, Huang reiterated Nvidia's commitment to supporting job creation and domestic manufacturing initiatives, while also emphasizing the importance of U.S. leadership in the global AI landscape. Meanwhile, in Beijing, Huang has engaged with government and industry representatives to explore the advantages of AI and the advancement of secure AI research for the collective good.
