Nothing Headphone 1 to launch alongside Phone 3 on July 1; everything you need to know

British tech innovator Nothing is gearing up for a significant product launch on July 1, showcasing its inaugural over-ear headphones, the Nothing Headphone (1), alongside the eagerly awaited Nothing Phone (3). This dual reveal is scheduled for a live event in London starting at 10:30 PM IST, as confirmed by co-founder and CEO Carl Pei during his recent keynote at SXSW London. The Headphone (1) signifies Nothing's first venture into the over-ear audio market, expanding its existing range that includes popular in-ear models like the Ear (1), Ear (2), and Ear (Stick). Pei emphasized the importance of this launch, stating, "It’s our first over-the-head headphones," and noted the demand from users for such a product. He described this moment as a "new chapter" for the company, which is recognized for its community-driven approach and unique transparent design. The headphones are anticipated to be the first result from Nothing's collaboration with renowned British audio brand KEF, aimed at pushing the boundaries of sound innovation. While it's not officially confirmed that the Headphone (1) stems from this partnership, the signs are promising. A recent behind-the-scenes video on the company's YouTube channel featured the design team voicing frustrations with the current market, particularly criticizing options like Apple's AirPods Max for their high price and lack of visual appeal. They aim to develop over-ear headphones that deliver a unique aesthetic, excellent sound quality, and a more affordable price tag. Although specific details regarding specifications and pricing are still under wraps, reports suggest that the Headphone (1) could retail for approximately $299 in the U.S., positioning it competitively against the AirPods Max, which are priced at $600 (₹59,900) in India, while still aspiring to match them in audio performance. The concurrent launch of the Nothing Phone (3), which Pei claims is the brand's "first true flagship," adds excitement to the event. He hinted at a broader vision beyond smartphones, stating, "The smartphone is the most important product today, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be the most important product forever." Pei expressed his ambition for the next five years, stating a desire to discover a new form factor in technology.
