The tool is compatible with any app, allowing users to dictate effortlessly across platforms. One of its standout features is the ability to create personalized voice shortcuts for frequently used words, links, templates, and phrases. For example, you can set up a shortcut that instantly inputs your full address when you say 'my address.' Currently, Essential Voice is available on the Phone (3), with plans to roll it out for the Phone (4a) Pro later this month and for the Phone (4a) next month. Research indicates that the average person types around 36 words per minute on a mobile device, but they can articulate thoughts significantly faster. Essential Voice aims to bridge this gap by converting spoken language into polished text with ease. To utilize this innovative feature, users can either press the Essential key on compatible devices or activate it via the keyboard. This functionality mirrors a recent update from SuperWhisper, which allows iPhone users to link the app’s dictation features to the device's action key. Notably, Essential Voice also boasts a translation feature, supporting over 100 languages from the outset. Looking ahead, Nothing plans to enhance the tool further with app-specific styling options, enabling users to adjust the AI's tone based on the context, such as professional or casual messaging. As one of the pioneering companies to introduce system-level dictation integration, Nothing sets a precedent in the industry. However, with Google recently launching its offline dictation app, the market may soon see a wave of similar innovations from other tech firms.
