Nothing launches Ear (3) with Super Mic, metal design and adaptive noise cancellation

Nothing has introduced its latest true wireless earbuds, the Ear (3), marking a significant advancement in its audio offerings. These new earbuds feature a groundbreaking Super Mic system, integrated within the charging case, a first in the industry. The design incorporates metal accents that enhance the brand’s signature transparent aesthetic. The Super Mic, cleverly positioned in the case, utilizes dual microphones equipped with ambient-filtering technology. This setup is designed to isolate the user's voice while effectively diminishing background noise by up to 95 dB. With a simple press of the TALK button, users can easily cut through surrounding chatter, ensuring clear conversations or seamless voice note recordings that sync with Nothing’s Essential Space app for easy transcription. Each earbud is equipped with three directional microphones and a bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit (VPU) that captures vibrations from both the jaw and ear canal. This, combined with an AI-driven noise-cancellation system trained on 20 million hours of audio data, guarantees exceptional clarity, even in breezy conditions, by reducing wind noise by over 25 dB. The Ear (3) offers real-time adaptive noise cancellation of up to 45 dB, adjusting every 600 milliseconds to suit the surrounding environment. Sound quality has been notably enhanced with a new 12mm dynamic driver featuring a patterned diaphragm that provides a 20% larger radiating area. This upgrade boosts bass performance by 4–6 dB and treble by as much as 4 dB, resulting in a richer and broader soundstage compared to its predecessor. For the first time, Nothing has incorporated metal components into its transparent design. The charging case is crafted from 100% recycled aluminum, meticulously processed through 27 precision steps and joined using nano injection molding to eliminate the need for glue. Additionally, the earbuds boast a 0.35 mm custom Metal-Insulator-Metal antenna that enhances signal strength and sensitivity, ensuring more stable connections. Battery life has seen a significant upgrade, now providing 10 hours of playback per charge—90 minutes longer than the previous model—and up to 38 hours with the charging case. A quick 10-minute USB-C charge allows for an impressive 10 hours of playback, with wireless charging capabilities also included. The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC technology, offering ultra-low latency of under 120 ms for gaming, and are rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. The Nothing Ear (3) will be available in black and white for £179 / $179 / €179 (approximately ₹15,700). Global pre-orders commenced on September 18, 2025, with sales starting on September 25 in select markets. An Indian launch is confirmed, with specific pricing and release details to follow.
