Nothing has officially announced the launch of its inaugural over-ear audio device, the Headphone (1), in India, starting from July 15. Initially listed at ₹21,999, customers can snag it for a special price of ₹19,999 on launch day, with attractive no-cost EMI options available through various major banks. Designed to compete in a market largely influenced by industry giants like Sony, Bose, and Apple, the Headphone (1) boasts a distinctive transparent aesthetic that showcases its internal components. The headphones are crafted from a combination of aluminum and precision-molded plastics, ensuring durability, while the ear cushions are made from oil-resistant PU foam for extended comfort during use. Unlike many modern headphones that rely on touch controls, the Headphone (1) features three physical control inputs: a Roller for adjusting volume and playback, a Paddle for skipping tracks, and a Button that allows users to switch ANC modes or activate shortcuts, such as voice assistant features. Users can customize these controls through the Nothing X app. In collaboration with British audio experts KEF, the headphones are engineered for superior sound quality. They are equipped with 40 mm dynamic drivers, complemented by a high-linearity suspension system and a nickel-plated diaphragm to minimize distortion and enhance clarity. The Headphone (1) supports LDAC, USB-C lossless audio, and includes a 3.5mm jack, all while holding certified Hi-Res Audio credentials. For an immersive listening experience, the device features on-device spatial audio with head tracking, allowing the audio landscape to shift as the user moves. This technology is compatible with various stereo sources, enriching the experience for music, films, and gaming. The hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology employs dual feedforward and feedback microphones, which actively scan ambient sounds in real-time. For situations where awareness of surroundings is essential, a Transparency Mode is also available. On voice calls, the headphones utilize an AI-powered Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) system, which relies on four dedicated microphones to isolate the user's voice amidst background noise. Battery life appears robust, offering up to 35 hours of playback time with ANC activated. A quick 5-minute charge provides approximately 2.4 hours of use. Additionally, the Headphone (1) supports Bluetooth 5.3, enabling dual-device pairing and features such as Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. A low-latency mode is available for gaming and video consumption. Users of the Nothing Phone (3) will benefit from enhanced features, including Essential Space, which simplifies the process of recording voice notes that are automatically organized. Another feature, Channel Hop, allows users to swiftly switch between audio applications and news updates. The Headphone (1) will be available on popular platforms like Flipkart, Myntra, and in leading retail stores starting July 15, 2025.
