Beginning August 3, 2025, Nintendo is poised to implement price increases for its original Switch consoles and select accessories in the United States, citing prevailing market conditions as the driving factor behind this adjustment. The affected products include the Nintendo Switch OLED model, the standard Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite, and various accessories. Although Nintendo has yet to release official pricing details, updates from retail websites hint at the upcoming changes. Reports from The Verge and deal tracker @Wario64 suggest that the standard Switch could see its price rise to $339.99, reflecting a $40 increase. Meanwhile, the OLED model may be priced at $399.99—an increase of $50—and the Switch Lite could go up by $30, bringing it to $229.99. In addition to the console price hikes, various accessories for the Nintendo Switch 2, certain amiibo figures, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo are also expected to see increased prices. However, the pricing for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console, physical and digital games for both Switch generations, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships will stay the same for now. Nintendo has hinted that further price adjustments could be considered in the future. This pricing update follows a similar trend in Canada, where a recent increase took effect for Switch systems. There, the standard Switch and Switch Lite have each seen a CA$20 rise, now priced at CA$419.99 and CA$279.99, respectively. The Switch OLED model has experienced a CA$40 increase, now retailing for CA$419.99. As the gaming industry grapples with ongoing global economic challenges and rising costs in technology and entertainment, Nintendo's decision reflects the pressures companies face in adjusting their pricing strategies.
