White House launches app touting Trump's record, with some key omissions

On Friday, the White House introduced a new mobile application designed to spotlight President Donald Trump's accomplishments during his second term and feature a collection of positive news stories. The app also includes a feature encouraging users to report tips to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to a message posted on X, the app promises updates directly from the Trump administration, claiming to provide information 'straight from the source, no filter.' Its launch follows a series of enigmatic videos shared on official social media channels, which hinted at the app's unveiling without providing substantial context. The app's main page showcases tiles that outline Trump's policy initiatives and record of achievements, directing users to relevant sections on the official White House website. Notably, a 'Social' tab includes a button for submitting tips to ICE, linking to the agency's official tip form. A section dedicated to affordability addresses a pressing concern for many Americans since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. It highlights the decreasing costs of essential grocery items such as eggs, milk, bread, butter, and potatoes, providing year-over-year comparisons that align with data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. However, the app does not mention other essential products, like ground beef and coffee, whose prices have increased over the past year. Additionally, the app omits significant information regarding the rising costs of oil, which have surged by double-digit percentages since late February, coinciding with the U.S. and Israel's military actions against Iran.
