FalloutS2 teaser brings us to New Vegas

Prime Video has just released an exhilarating teaser for the eagerly awaited second season of Fallout, a series that has quickly gained acclaim as one of the finest adaptations of a video game into television. In a recent roundup for 2024, Ars senior editor Samuel Axon highlighted the show's unique blend of humor, campy sci-fi elements, compelling storylines, and dynamic characters, stating that the first season culminated in a truly remarkable viewing experience. The upcoming season promises to deliver more of the thrilling content fans have come to love, with the introduction of a significant new character inspired by the beloved Fallout: New Vegas game. Viewers were given a tantalizing glimpse of a Deathclaw, a creature that has become iconic within the franchise. For those unfamiliar with the series, Fallout is set 200 years post-nuclear conflict between the United States and China, which obliterated civilization in 2077. This alternate history imagines a retrofuturistic world shaped by post-World War II nuclear advancements. While some fortunate individuals found sanctuary in underground vaults, many were left to navigate the harsh realities of a radioactive surface. In the first season, audiences were introduced to Lucy MacLean, portrayed by Ella Purnell. Her vault is invaded by surface raiders who tragically kill several residents and abduct her father, Hank, played by Kyle MacLachlan. This harrowing event propels Lucy on a determined journey to rescue him. Despite the brutality of life above ground, Lucy quickly adapts, finding support and romance with Maximus, a squire in disguise as a knight of the Brotherhood of Steel. Throughout her journey, she encounters the formidable Ghoul, a gunslinger and bounty hunter portrayed by Walton Goggins, who is revealed to be a former actor, Cooper Howard, transformed into a ghoul by radiation exposure after the original nuclear disaster.
