Rocket Report: Russia pledges quick fix for Soyuz launch pad; Ariane 6 aims high

Welcome to the latest edition of the Rocket Report, where we explore significant advancements in the world of rocketry. This year has witnessed the debut of several remarkable rockets. Among them, Blue Origin's New Glenn stands out, having achieved a successful inaugural launch in January, followed by an impressive second flight in November, which concluded with the booster’s triumphant landing on an offshore platform. China's Zhuque-3, a partially reusable methane-fueled rocket developed by the launch company LandSpace, also made headlines. It successfully reached orbit on its maiden flight earlier this month, although its booster just missed a landing downrange. If all goes well, we might see China’s Long March 12A join the ranks of successful launches before the year wraps up. As we approach the end of 2025, this will be our final Rocket Report for the year, but we will return in January with all the latest developments in rocketry. Our reports include insights on small, medium, and heavy-lift rockets, alongside a preview of upcoming launches. In another noteworthy event, Rocket Lab delivered a successful mission for the Space Force and NASA. On Thursday, four small satellites were launched into orbit aboard a Rocket Lab Electron rocket from Virginia. This mission marks the beginning of a government-funded technology demonstration aimed at assessing the performance of a new spacecraft design. The satellites were housed in a cylindrical dispenser atop the 59-foot-tall Electron rocket, which lifted off from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. Just over an hour later, the rocket's upper stage deployed the satellites sequentially at an altitude of approximately 340 miles (550 kilometers). This launch initiates a “proof of concept” mission to evaluate the feasibility of an innovative satellite model known as DiskSats, designed by the Aerospace Corporation.
