Meet the latest anti-vaccine voices on RFK Jr.’s CDC advisory panel

In a controversial move, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has expanded the federal advisory committee responsible for national vaccination recommendations by adding five new members. This decision has sparked discussions regarding the qualifications and perspectives of these appointees, many of whom have publically expressed anti-vaccine sentiments. Earlier this year, Kennedy removed all 17 previous members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which plays a crucial role in advising the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on vaccine policy. Among the newly appointed members is Catherine Stein, a professor at Case Western Reserve University. Stein has been vocal against vaccine mandates and previously authored an article suggesting that fear of COVID-19 is unwarranted. In her testimony to Ohio's legislature in 2021, she made claims that COVID-19 vaccines result in fatalities and serious side effects, asserting that some individuals have had their lives permanently altered after vaccination. Critics have raised alarms over potential conflicts of interest, particularly regarding two new members, including the chair, who have received compensation for testifying against vaccine manufacturers.
