Netflix confirms it’s raising prices again

In a recent update, Netflix has announced another increase in its subscription prices. The streaming platform's entry-level, ad-supported tier now comes at a monthly cost of $8.99, marking an increase from the previous rate of $7.99. This adjustment was confirmed by the company in an email to TechCrunch. Furthermore, the standard ad-free plan has also seen a price rise, now priced at $19.99 per month, a $2 jump from the earlier $17.99 fee. The premium plan has followed suit, now costing $26.99, which is also a $2 increase. The costs for adding additional viewers outside of the primary household have changed as well. For instance, adding a user to an ad-supported plan has increased to $6.99 from $7.99, while the cost to add a viewer to the ad-free plan now stands at $8.99. The price adjustments are said to reflect Netflix's ongoing commitment to enhancing its diverse range of entertainment and the overall quality of its service. The initial reports of these changes came from Android Authority, with Netflix indicating that new subscribers will encounter the updated prices starting March 26. Existing subscribers will see the new fees implemented over the next few months, receiving an email notification a month prior to the changes. This marks Netflix's first price increase since January 2025. Since then, the platform has introduced several new features, including video podcasts and expanded livestreaming options. Additionally, Netflix is in the process of revamping its mobile app and enhancing its short-form video capabilities. These price hikes come on the heels of Netflix withdrawing from a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, after the latter declared Paramount Skydance's $31 per share offer as a “superior proposal.” Netflix opted not to increase its $82.7 billion all-cash bid for the studio, ultimately choosing to walk away from the negotiation.
