Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a private meeting with prominent US tech executives and investors in New York on Sunday, focusing on the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance Israel's economy and military capabilities. Among the attendees was Jacob Helberg, a former adviser at Palantir Technologies Inc., who has been nominated for a role in the Trump administration as under secretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment. Helberg, known for his strong support of Israel, is currently awaiting Senate confirmation. The gathering also included Eric Glyman, CEO of fintech startup Ramp, as well as Eric Wu and Keith Rabois, co-founders of the online real estate company OpenDoor. Additionally, Guillermo Rauch, CEO of the cloud computing platform Vercel, and venture capitalist Josh Wolfe, co-founder of Lux Capital, were present to discuss AI initiatives. Described as an informal discussion, the meeting featured Netanyahu accompanied by two aides, with participants speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect the confidentiality of the event. This gathering occurred just one day before Netanyahu's scheduled meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House, where they were set to discuss a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Following their meeting, Netanyahu and Trump are expected to hold a news conference in Washington. As of now, neither Netanyahu’s office nor representatives from the tech industry have responded to requests for comments regarding the meeting.
