Are you a software engineer? Tell us what you think about vibe coding

The landscape of software engineering is evolving rapidly, and we want to gather insights from those experiencing this transformation firsthand. Modern programmers are now equipped with an array of AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Codex, which enable them to generate completely artificial code or enhance their own handwritten scripts using advanced language models. This innovative approach has been coined 'vibe coding.' Engineers from tech giants like Meta and Google are increasingly adopting vibe coding in their everyday tasks. This trend has made it possible for a broader range of individuals, including teenagers and those without a technical background, to create applications or at least prototype them through vibe coding. However, this also introduces a new set of skills for engineers to master, as different tools like Replit, Lovable, and Bolt offer distinct functionalities. For seasoned programmers, the impact of these tools on productivity remains uncertain. Andrej Karpathy, a key figure in the AI community and a former leader at Tesla, popularized the term 'vibe coding' last year. In a recent post on X, he expressed feelings of being outpaced in the programming world, stating, "I have a sense that I could be 10X more powerful if I just properly string together what has become available over the last ~year." He noted that failing to leverage these advancements feels like a personal skill gap. Are you a programmer? Join our survey on vibe coding and share your thoughts!
