He acknowledged that this shift to a more fluid career structure may initially induce anxiety, but it also grants individuals greater autonomy over their professional paths. "On the wall, you have a lot more control over your career," Raman noted, encouraging professionals to align their paths with their unique abilities and passions. Amid the ongoing debate among tech experts and AI researchers regarding the impact of AI on employment, Raman pointed out the dual nature of this evolution. While some, like Geoffrey Hinton, warn of potential job losses, others, such as Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, view these changes as a chance to create new business opportunities. To thrive in this dynamic environment, Raman advised professionals to break down their jobs into specific tasks and consider how AI can assist in these areas. He posed crucial questions: "What can I delegate to AI? How can I utilize it to streamline my workload?" He stressed the importance of using AI tools to alleviate routine tasks, thereby allowing individuals to focus more on collaboration and innovation. Looking ahead, LinkedIn data suggests that by 2030, 70% of the skills required in most professions will evolve due to AI advancements. Therefore, Raman suggests that rather than fixating on long-term career plans, individuals should concentrate on adapting to changes in real time. "Don’t stress about a 10-year plan; focus on building the skills you need for today and tomorrow," he advised. Echoing this sentiment, LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky asserted that linear career paths are a myth. During an appearance on Microsoft's 'Tools and Weapons' podcast, he urged professionals to prioritize skill development over job titles.
