From AI specialists to creators: Top 3 fastest-growing roles you should know

As new graduates prepare to enter the workforce, many are grappling with the challenge of identifying viable career paths amidst the rapid evolution of technology. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping job opportunities, leading to the emergence of roles that were virtually nonexistent just a few years ago. In a recent report from LinkedIn, titled Grads’ Guide 2026, the platform highlights the fastest-growing positions in India, reflecting the changing landscape. Among the most sought-after roles are AI Specialist, Generative AI Engineer, and Digital Content Creator, which are attracting significant interest from young professionals. Additionally, positions such as Brand Representative and IT Specialist are also ranked among the top five in demand. The study indicates that the 'Utilities' sector is currently the leading industry for newcomers, while areas such as Education, Government Administration, Transportation and Logistics, and Energy Technology are also on the rise. Entry-level jobs are becoming increasingly available across various functions, including Human Resources, Consulting, Information Technology, Marketing, Program and Project Management, and Business Development. Nirajita Banerjee, a Career Expert at LinkedIn, emphasizes the importance of adaptability in today’s job market. She states, "In this dynamic environment, professionals must cultivate a diverse skill set. Early career paths are often non-linear, and embracing varied experiences can drive personal and professional growth." Moreover, the study reveals a shift in hiring trends, with opportunities expanding beyond major urban centers. Cities like Vijayawada, Kolkata, and Bhopal are emerging as key locations for recruitment, driven by factors such as cost efficiency, lower attrition rates, and enhanced digital infrastructure. Vaibhav Gadodia, CTO of Nagarro, notes that these changes are facilitating broader access to talent and allowing companies to evaluate candidates from regions outside traditional job markets. Startups and smaller enterprises are also playing a significant role in job creation. For individuals holding bachelor’s degrees, hiring by very small firms has surged by 64% from 2023 to 2025, with an astonishing 168% increase for entry-level positions. Furthermore, the report highlights a growing emphasis on internships, with more fresh graduates gaining relevant experience than those who entered the workforce between 2020 and 2022. This trend underscores the increasing importance of internships as a stepping stone to securing full-time employment.
