The launch of Meta's AI app has stirred up discussions about privacy, with users unknowingly sharing bizarre and personal prompts publicly. Since its debut in April, this app has emerged as a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT, but it has recently faced scrutiny due to privacy concerns surrounding the content being shared. Among the unusual prompts highlighted were images depicting women engaged in mud wrestling and even a comedic portrayal of former President Donald Trump. Additional examples uncovered by CNBC included a user requesting a whimsical scene involving Hello Kitty and another asking for a veterinarian bill to be generated, which inadvertently revealed a home address. By default, prompts entered into the Meta AI tool are publicly accessible, but users have the option to modify their privacy settings. To safeguard your prompts, navigate to your profile picture in the top right corner, then scroll to the 'data and privacy' section. From there, find the 'suggesting your prompts on other apps' tab, which covers platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Adjust the toggle settings for any apps where you prefer to keep your prompts private. Next, revisit the main data and privacy page, select 'manage your information,' and choose the option to limit visibility of all public prompts to just yourself. This section also allows users to delete their prompt history. In a bid to enhance its AI capabilities, Meta has invested significantly in the sector, recently committing $14 billion to the startup Scale AI and appointing its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to spearhead the company's AI strategy. The company has yet to respond to requests for further comments on these developments.
