Elon Musk is directly reaching out to users of the platform X, encouraging them to share instances where his AI chatbot, Grok, has not met expectations. This appeal comes as xAI rolls out Grok version 4.1, which aims to improve the chatbot's accuracy and reduce its recent erratic behavior. In a post on X, Musk requested users to provide specific examples of Grok’s shortcomings, as well as comparisons to other chatbots. He stated, "Please provide examples where @Grok needs to improve in replies. Showing how another AI does it better would be helpful. These examples should be of Grok going wrong today, as we fixed many bugs from earlier in the week." Musk also emphasized the importance of sharing positive interactions, saying that such feedback would also be beneficial for the development team. This call for user input follows a wave of criticism regarding Grok’s recent responses, which included exaggerated claims about Musk’s capabilities compared to elite athletes and historical figures. In one notable exchange, Grok controversially favored Musk over NBA legend LeBron James in a fitness comparison, asserting that Musk's busy life managing various high-profile ventures required a unique level of physical endurance. The chatbot described Musk as the "fittest man alive" and even suggested he could defeat former boxing champion Mike Tyson in a match. Musk attempted to downplay these unusual assertions, attributing them to adversarial prompting. He humorously noted, "Earlier today, Grok was unfortunately manipulated by adversarial prompting into saying absurdly positive things about me," while also making a self-deprecating comment about himself. These incidents have heightened concerns regarding the chatbot’s neutrality and safety measures. Musk previously indicated that Grok 4.1 would benefit from numerous updates aimed at enhancing its reliability. He stated, "Many updates and fixes have been applied to Grok 4.1 and many more to come! Going forward, Grok 4.1 will spend more compute time thinking about your question to improve accuracy." Additionally, Musk shared a video outlining how users can report problematic responses directly through the chatbot interface, encouraging critical feedback to help refine Grok further. He concluded with the assurance, "We will keep iterating until Grok is the best in every way."
