Motorola Edge 70 Ultra tipped to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 1.5K OLED display

Motorola is poised to enhance its Edge 70 series with the introduction of the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, a flagship model anticipated to feature exceptional performance and high-end specifications. Recent insights from tipster Anvin (@ZionsAnvin) on X suggest that this new smartphone will boast a 1.5K OLED display, which promises to deliver sharper visuals and more vibrant colors. Powering the Edge 70 Ultra is expected to be Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which has yet to be officially unveiled but is anticipated to debut later this month. If the rumors hold true, this device could be among the first to feature Qualcomm's latest flagship processor, marking a significant advancement in smartphone technology. Maintaining the sleek and lightweight design of the recently launched Motorola Edge 70—measuring just 5.99mm—the Ultra variant is also rumored to include a periscope telephoto camera, highlighting its emphasis on advanced photography features. These enhancements are set to position the Edge 70 Ultra as a premium option in Motorola's lineup, likely priced above the standard Edge 70 model. The Edge 70 Ultra is expected to follow in the footsteps of the Edge 50 Ultra, which was launched in India in June 2024 at a cost of ₹59,999. The previous model came equipped with a 6.7-inch 1.5K LTPS pOLED display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate, powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, along with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also included impressive charging capabilities with 125W TurboPower fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging, complemented by a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP telephoto camera. If Motorola continues with this trajectory, the Edge 70 Ultra is poised to offer even greater performance enhancements, improved camera technology, and a more refined design. With its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and 1.5K OLED display, it could become one of Motorola's most powerful and visually captivating smartphones yet. While official details are still pending, further information is expected to surface as we approach Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 launch event later this month.
