Motorola is gearing up to elevate its foldable smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Razr Fold, a notebook-style device that was recently teased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. Following the success of its nostalgic clamshell Razr series, this new offering marks a bold move for the brand into the premium large-format segment. The Razr Fold is designed to strike a balance between portability and productivity. When folded, the smartphone boasts a sleek 6.6-inch cover display, ensuring compactness for easy handling. Unfolding the device reveals an impressive 8.1-inch 2K internal screen, providing a viewing experience that rivals that of a mini tablet. Motorola has chosen two stylish color options for the Razr Fold: Lily White, featuring a smooth texture, and Blackened Blue, which offers a unique textured back panel. This design not only emphasizes aesthetics but also enhances ergonomic comfort for users. The photography capabilities of the Razr Fold are set to be a standout feature, with a sophisticated triple-camera system on the back. Leading this setup is a 50MP primary sensor that utilizes advanced Sony LYTIA technology, complemented by a 50MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP telephoto camera featuring a 3X periscope lens for superior optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, a 32MP camera is integrated into the cover display, alongside a 20MP sensor on the main screen. While specific details regarding the processor, battery life, and pricing are still pending, the Razr Fold is poised to compete at the higher end of the smartphone market. Motorola has indicated that full technical specifications and availability will be revealed during an official launch event set for the summer. Furthermore, the device is touted as being "AI ready," suggesting the inclusion of innovative AI features and enhanced integration with Gemini and Moto AI. With the Razr Fold, Motorola is clearly positioning itself to challenge industry giants like Google and Samsung, offering consumers a high-performance alternative to traditional clamshell designs and reaffirming its commitment to cutting-edge technology.
